The Sammamish River Trail is a beautiful outdoor escape from stress. It begins at Marymoor Park and follows the edge of a stream for miles. Cyclists who pursue the path to its end, will merge with the Burke Gilman Trail which leads to Lake Union. The trail hosts a broad spectum of people, including old ladies with matching dogs, parents and kids on family day out, and couples biking to the Redhook Ale Brewery for a cheap fun date.
Redmond Washington calls itself “The Bicycle Capital of the World”, and the trail near Redmond can be busy on weekends.
Family Day
The trail is paved for bicycles and pedestrians. Also, along most of its length, there is a parallel equestrian path. Here is a map of Sammamish Trail and Burke Gilman, for bicyclists who intend to travel the whole distance.
On weekends, one might see:
- Bicyclists: Racing bikes, tandem bikes, recliner bikes, Trikkes
- Rollerbladers
- Babies in strollers
- Joggers of all athletic abilities
- People walking alone or with dogs
- Inline skaters
- Horseback riders alongside the main trail
Cheap Date
A biking date is very inexpensive, but the cost can be taken up a notch by having lunch at the Redhook Ale Brewery . The address:

- The Redhook Ale Brewery is where the trail intersects Woodinville's Northeast 145th Street
- Turn off at a bridge (a lumberyard is a landmark)
- Wineries are nearby: Chateau Ste. Michelle, Columbia, Silver Lake.

- Watch for speeding bike clubs
- Pull off the path when stopping
- Easy to turn around when kids get tired

Sammamish River Trail For Singles
There is never a guarantee, but many solo walkers, joggers, and bikers are found along this Redmond promenade. It’s close to Microsoft’s main campus and many other corporations.
Taking a walk with a dog (borrow one) is always a good conversation starter and a great way to meet new people. A man or woman has a better chance of finding a promising date (or friend) on a bike trail than in a club or a bar. Happy hunting.

Sammamish River ParkSometimes it's difficult for people to pronounce Sammamish and Snoqualmie. It's nice to say it right, especially when asking for directions.
Redmond's Sammamish River Trail is a treasure. Local residents are lucky to have had leaders with enough foresight to save this riverside greenbelt for all to use. Children love Marymoor Park and the Sammamish River Trail. Dogs love the smell of the water, the ducks, the horses, and the outdoors. It's one of the most beautiful bike trails in the country for a family day out, a cheap fun date, or just a stroll with friends.
